What a fantastic time! The Kingston Townsmen were tremendous hosts in their chapter show and afterglow. Special thanks go to Paul and Doreen, who put us up for the night and treated us like family in their own home.
Before the show, we held a workshop at Ernestown Secondary School to demonstrate the barbershop style to music students. The group included a quartet keen on showing us their skills. We had a dynamic and interactive session with these kids, with a nice mix of performing, teaching and singing. We even showed them the art of singing tags in confined spaces (between the entrance doors) hopefully to prepare them for eventual membership in the BHS. We held a similar session with music students from Holy Cross Secondary School. We asked them to perform Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody as a joke and were surprised to see them get up and perform it for us! Both groups performed in the show that evening and impressed the audience.
The Townsmen showed their enthusiasm for impromptu quartetting in the afterglow. We had a lot of fun splitting up and forming quartets with them and sharing the joy that is the essence of barbershop harmony.
We're looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
